Hans is one of the most inspiring speakers that I know. As a history teacher he knows how to make his students enthusiastic for the subject. His classes were famous. Everybody wanted to join them, and I was one of the lucky ones. He was the most inspirational teacher. He enchanted us with passion and enthusiasm. He inspired many with his exciting and humorous way of lecturing. All I can say is that it was a great joy to listen to him. And it still is.

Hans Luiten's career was actually a preparation for his precent place.

He was and is a teacher, an inspired pedagogue specialized in history. As politician and manager, he learned to speak many languages: everybody can understand him (and debate with him), Turkish and traditional citizens of Amsterdam in Bos en Lommer, as well as administrators and people of national politics.

In 2008, I lived in Amserdam for almost 40 years, after having left my home area the Zaanstreek to study. I attended a reunion party from my old 'Zaanse Studenten Vereniging' and heard Hans who gave a general introduction in the Zaanse History. The 45 minutes flew by and aroused a new feeling in me of my Zaanstreek. Perhaps this is even one of the reasons why I moved back to Zaandam.

The 2 hours tour at the Zaanse Schans was interesting, vibrant, and fun! Since Hans connected a family member to every part of his story, the history really came to life and felt near.
